This year UMS decided to take on a challenging but incredibly rewarding path with the Ministry of Social Development. For anyone unfamiliar with the Ministry of Social Development they are all about helping to build successful individuals, and in turn building strong, healthy families and communities. Their job is far from easy as they are tackling some of the big issues in society, like family violence. But together, we want to help New Zealanders to help themselves to be safe, strong and independent by working to give them a brighter employment future… Like the Ministry of Social Development ko ta mātou he whakamana tangata kia tū haumaru, kia tū kaha, kia tū motuhake.
UMS has three apprentices through this programme and they are the youngest ones to meet our team as yet! Our apprentices are a reflection of the wider community and UMS is committed to providing a working environment that’s supportive, and that helps develop their skills and experience.
Auckland Council will be monitoring their progress through #buildakl, a youth related arm of the council’s economic development forum. We are incredibly excited to have these new apprentices on board with UMS and we look forward to watching them develop as they embark on their new careers with the UMS family.
